The Marine Reserve on Cozumel Island is one of the top dive destinations in the Caribbean. It was designated as a national marine park in 1996 and remains one of the most pristine diving destinations. The park covers nearly 30,000 acres and is home to over 100 types of coral and more than 250 species of fish!
Diving on Cozumel
The names of dive sites like Punta Sur, Santa Rosa Wall, and Palancar are recognized by divers around the world. They represent some of the most exhilerating diving experiences, even for the most seasoned dive travelers. Conditions are perfect for drift diving as a nearly constant current sweeps along the island and reefs from South to North. Nothing could be easier than letting the water do the work. Once you descend, it's like a magic carpet ride as you sail along above the corals and spectacular drop-offs.
We are scheduled to make two boat dives each morning, leaving directly from the dock at the resort. Optional afternoon dives can be added for a nominal additional fee. Nitrox is also available. The park is part of the second largest barrier reef system in the world. You definitely want to bring a camera to capture your underwater adventures.
We are staying at the all-inclusive Sunscape Sabor resort. The Unlimited-Fun package includes your room, diving, great fun activities, unlimited drinks, live entertainment and quiet time on a phenomenal beach! There's even a spa where you can indulge yourself in a soothing facial or relaxing massage. In the mood for more action? Sea kayaks, aqua aerobics, Hobie Cat sailing, beach volleyball, yoga and much more are just a few steps away.
With three a' la carte restaurants, a buffet, wine cellar you'll enjoy exploring all the dining options the resort has to offer. You can try Mexican, Italian, international and grilled specialties with select areas providing food and snacks 24 hours per day.
